"Cracker" Jack

Dear and most Special Friends,

I have ALWAYS had a heart for The Rescue -- it is the only logical choice to me.  My husband, Jay, and I were approaching the 1st anniversary of our move to Orangeburg, SC.  He had accepted a new job and we left North Augusta, SC, arriving in Orangeburg December 15, 2006.  I had lived in NA for 30+ years.  The change was a tough one for me, but a good thing for Jay and a man's job satisfaction is paramount & he had my complete support.  I was still struggling, however, trying to locate "fertile soil" in which to grow, but knew (had faith) it was a matter of time.

I was a "Sheltie Gal" but talked often with a friend of her "best ever" dog, who was a Golden.  The more we talked, the more curious I became.  I've always heard such wonderful stories of Golden Retrievers, so I began my research.  The more I read, the more I wanted to read.  The more I learned, the more I began to adore and began to respect this Grand breed.  I decided this was precisely what I needed to celebrate our new anniversary in Orangeburg, so I began my next endeavor, which was searching for the right rescue group.

I settled down with my coffee and computer and began reading and reviewing web sites, made a couple of inquiries and within half a day, there was no doubt in my mind there IS ONLY ONE RESCUE ORGANIZATION --LCGRR.  I'll sing your praises forever -- you are simply the best organized, most professional, most caring, capable and concerned group of folks and awesome volunteers imaginable.  Simply the best!

I completed my paperwork and procedures and thought it was a grand time to tell my dear Jay just what WE wanted for OUR relocation anniversary.

Well, bless his heart, he had moved his wife from her "home" of 30 years ... what's a guy to do?  He knew we were just going to look at Jack (yeah - right) and sure enough, one look, I was on the pavement loving my new child, giving him kisses.  Jay took Jack for a walk and was in agreement, Jack was a wonderful guy.

Jack and his Sheltie sister, Reagan are a grand pair.  Jack also grooms Gizzie, our Manx feline.  I don't know what he won't do to please.  His demeanor and personality are just amazing.

I can't imagine another canine soul filled with so much love; I can't imagine another who lives only for me; I can't imagine another so willing to please; I can't imagine another who is simply so goofy; I can't imagine how I lived so long without him.  Thank you, Linda, Diane, Glenda, and every single volunteer in the world associated with this incredible organization ..... you are all simply the best !!

And for anyone who is reading .... as you take a look at your most special 4-legged family member or consider bringing one of these amazing dogs into your home, consider asking what you can give back to LCGRR.  There are so many ways to volunteer -- even if it's a once in a lifetime or twice a year event.  The incredible joy you have received is bringing you joy that will touch your heart for a lifetime.  Pass it forward.
